We had a blast. Now it’s all over but the shoutin’. We’ll see you at 10am tomorrow for the closing ceremony: Skits, awards, songs, and a most impressive slide show. See you in the morning.

Movie Night

Your kids have played hard this week. Thursday is for down time. We convert the dining hall into a theater. We make popcorn and sell candy from the canteen. It also gives our hard working counselors a break.

I can’t get these ladies to sit still long enough for a picture. They keep the meals coming: French toast, pizza, spaghetti and tonight’s hamburgers are favorites with the kids. Please thank them when you pick up the kids.

Our Counselors

This is one of the rarest sights you’ll see at Camp Idlewild–counselors enjoying free time. From the time you drop them off on Sunday afternoon, these counselors spend a LOT of time with your kids. They get one hour every day during Bible classes to do their own thing, then it’s back to work. They work hard and have a lot of fun. I’m very thankful for their desire to serve.

Day One Down

We managed to get our hayride finished and everyone back to their cabins before the rains came (too busy to take pictures). Tomorrow night: square dancing. Hopefully we won’t be rained in all day.

Monday Afternoon

Lunch is over. Time for noon activities: sports, rifles, archery, canoeing and, of course, swimming. As long as the rain holds off.

Flagpole

The kids were up bright and early this morning. Every day starts at the flagpole where we sing crazy songs and move around enough to work up an appetite for breakfast.

First night

The kids are in their cabins for the night. Lights out has come and gone. They’ll have a hard time going to sleep tonight, but it will get easier as the week goes on.

We had our scavenger hunt tonight. Always a great way to get them interacting as a cabin.

Tomorrow we hit the ground running with songs at the flagpole at 8:00. I hope none of you will harbor any resentment if they come back to you seeing a variety of bizarre tunes.

I know you like pictures of your kids more than my rambling. I’ll do better tomorrow.
